Watch: Matthew and Brady Tkachuk capture special moment with baby Tkachuk ahead of Panthers vs Sens
Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk and Florida Panthers alternate captain Matthew Tkachuk faced off at the Canadian Tire Center in Ottawa on Thursday. Prior to the game, Brady Tkachuk took a moment to share an intimate moment with his newborn son Ryder and brother Matthew.
The younger Tkachuk brother halted the warmups to essentially have his brother click a family picture with his son Ryder. The Tkachuks posed together as Brady held the newborn in his hand. They allegedly recreated a similar picture they first took back in the 2019 playoffs prior to a fixture against each other.
Brady Tkachuk and his wife Emma welcomed their newborn earlier on September 16. The couple has been together for a long time before they got engaged in summer 2022. They eventually tied the knot in July 2023.
They announced that they were expecting a baby boy in March this year. Emma and Brady shared the news of welcoming Ryder into their family on September 18.
“Ryder Keith Tkachuk, our whole world ❤️ September 16, 2024 9lb 5 oz,” the couple captioned the post.
Captain Brady Tkachuk has his eyes at the top for the Senators
Brady Tkachuk believes in taking things one day at a time. The Ottawa Senators’ captain opened up on his goals for the team heading into the new season during a media availability on Monday.
“You have to think big going into each year,” said Tkachuk. “Every year you dream of winning the Stanley Cup. With this group, the biggest goal we have is not looking too far ahead and just winning each day.” [H/T Ottawa Citizen]
Tkachuk acknowledged the pressure to get off to a good start but pointed out that they don’t need to stress about it too much because they have confidence in their abilities and the lessons they've learned.
“We’ve gone through some years, where I’m not saying we were doing the same thing, but not adapting to what we should (be doing) and how we should,” Tkachuk admitted. “The majority of guys who have been here have realized that there needs to be a change to each of our individual games and the mindset.”
According to the 25-year-old, the team has shifted their focus away from obsessing over results and instead prioritized working hard during practices and improving every day. He admitted that in previous years, they hadn’t adapted well enough, but now the team recognizes the need for change both individually and collectively to succeed this season.
