NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers

WATCH: Police intervene massive brawl between fans following Oilers' Game 2 loss to Stars

On Saturday, the Dallas Stars tied the Western Conference Finals series with a 3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 at the American Airlines Center. However, the victory was overshadowed by a massive brawl between fans of both teams that erupted on the streets following the game.

The altercation quickly escalated, with fans seen beating each other. The police intervened immediately, using force to control the situation and restore order.

Fans wearing Oilers jerseys were particularly involved in the clashes, many of them furiously confronting the police. The officials had to wrestle several fans to the ground to regain control, making arrests and dispersing the crowds.

On the ice, Mason Marchment scored the ͏tiebreaking goal early in the first period for the Stars. Esa Lindell sealed the victory with an empty-net goal from the blue line. Jamie Benn had a standout performance with a goal and an assist, while Wyatt Johnston added two assists.

Jake Oettinger was solid in goal, making 28 saves for Dallas. ͏Despite Edmonton outshooting Dallas 16-4 in the ͏first period, ͏their lone goal came from Connor Brown, with Stuart Skinner making 22 saves.

The series, now tied at one game apiece, moves to Edmonton for Game 3 on Monday. As both teams prepare for the next face-off, the hope is for a more peaceful encounter off the ice as the competition continues.

Analyzing the Oilers' mistakes in the loss to the Stars

The Edmonton Oilers missed a chance to lead the ͏series 2–0, losing ͏to the Dallas ͏St͏ars.͏ As the series moves to Edmonton for Game 3, here’s a look at what went wrong for the Oilers.

#1: Connor McDavid wasn't effective

The Dallas Stars did a great job stopping Connor McDavid, allowing him only one shot on goal. Defenseman Chris Tanev was key in shutting down McDavid's play.

McDavid couldn’t use his speed to get into the zone or create scoring chances. The Stars also kept Zach Hyman away from the net. Leon Draisaitl had a hard time creating offense too, with most of his shots coming from far away.

#2: Defensive mistakes cost them

Edmonton made defensive errors that led to goals for the Stars. Mason Marchment’s goal in the third period happened because the Oilers didn't cover him well. He was able to redirect a shot past goalkeeper Stuart Skinner.

This showed that Dallas could enter the zone too easily at times. Skinner had to make important saves, including one when Marchment almost scored again from a tough angle.

#3: They couldn't keep their momentum

Despite outshooting the Saints in the first period, the Oilers ended up tied at one goal ͏each. Dallas took control as the game went on, and they lost their momentum.

By the third period, Dallas was often in the Oilers' zone, while they struggled to keep the puck and create good scoring chances. They mostly dumped the ͏puck into the zone or stayed on ͏the outside, failing to generate much offense after Connor Brown’s goal.
