Rapper and Utah resident Post Malone made a surprise appearance at the Utah Hockey Club's home game on Monday night, rallying the crowd as the team fell 2-1 against the visiting Dallas Stars.
The nine-time Grammy nominee sat rinkside with team owner Ryan Smith during the matchup. As the game headed into the third period, Malone grabbed a hand drum from Utah’s mascot and began banging a beat to rile up the 11,131 fans in attendance.

While Malone's drumming wasn't enough to will the home team to victory, he remained in good spirits after the game.
Despite Utah's loss, Malone seemed to relish the experience of his inaugural NHL game. After the final buzzer, he even visited the Dallas Stars locker room to meet the players and take photos.
Malone owns a luxurious mountain estate outside Salt Lake City, seeking an "oasis" away from the grind of his music career.
The sprawling property integrates rustic and glam decor, much like Malone's blend of hip hop and country in his own music. It includes indoor greenery, a cozy den with a fireplace, an island kitchen, a sunken bathtub, and amenities like a home theater, gym and outdoor pool.
