Sidney Crosby is glad that the contact is finally done
Sidney Crosby is entering the final year of his 12-year, $104.4 million contract. His new two-year extension will kick in from the 2025-26 NHL season.
Crosby said he is happy about the extension and excited to continue playing.
“Just glad that it’s done and I’m really happy to know that I’ll be here for a few more years,” Crosby said per NHL.com “My last contract, I don’t think I thought about the possibility of still playing beyond that, so I’m just really happy that it’s worked out this way.”
Penguins GM Kyle Dubas praised Crosby as one of the greatest players ever and noted his willingness to take a lower contract to help the team.
"There are no words to properly describe what Sidney Crosby means to the game of hockey, the city of Pittsburgh and the Penguins organization," Dubas said. "Sidney is the greatest player of his generation and one of the greatest players in the history of the game."
Crosby appears to feel good and remains passionate about the game. He now aims to help the Penguins reach the playoffs again and finish his career with the franchise.
