Chicago Blackhawks veteran Tyler Bertuzzi stood up for his teammate Connor Bedard, who was slammed into the board by Bolts forward Michael Eyssimont during Tuesday's matchup.

In the third period, Bedard took down Erik Černák with his stick while the defenseman was advancing the puck. Eyssimont didn't like Bedard's play and shoved the Hawks star into the boards after he touched up.

Bertuzzi then grabbed Eyssimont and shoved him behind the goal line.

Bedard received a two-minute minor penalty for tripping. Meanwhile, Bertuzzi and Eyssimont were both given a two-minute minor penalty for roughing.

The matchup ended with the Chicago Blackhawks beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1.

Connor Bedard shines as Blackhawks down Lightning

On Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Lightning hosted the Chicago Blackhawks at Amalie Arena. The Hawks beat the Lightning 4-1 and snapped their three-game losing streak.

Brayden Point opened the scoring for the Bolts, putting them ahead 1-0 at 3:34 into the first period. Connor Bedard scored for the Blackhawks, tying it 1-1 at 10:19 into the second period.

"We played them good last game," Bedard said via NHL.com. "When you play a team kind of back to back like that almost, it's motivation to get a win when they beat you. So it was good to come in here and do that."

With less than two minutes remaining in the second, Landon Slaggert put the Blackhawks ahead. Ryan Donato made it 3-1 at 8:02 of the final period before Teuvo Teravainen’s late empty-net goal sealed the win for the Blackhawks.

Bedard's Blackhawks face the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena on Thursday. The puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.
