Wayne Gretzky and Paul Bissonnette reveal their best Christmas gifts ever
NHL legend Wayne Gretzky and Paul Bissonnette revealed the best Christmas gifts they ever received during an episode of Spittin' Chiclets.
Bissonnette, the host of the hockey podcast, shared that the best gift he ever got was a Gretzky Easton aluminum hockey stick when he was a kid.
"My mom hit it underneath my couch in the living room and all the gifts were done being unwrapped," Bissonnette said.
"Then my mom was like 'oh, what's that extra thing sticking out?' And I was like...it was insane and my dad snapped the perfect picture, I had the biggest smile on my face."
The iconic hockey stick lasted Bissonnette a full seven years of childhood hockey. He was thrilled to receive a small piece of Gretzky memorabilia as a young hockey fanatic.
When it was Gretzky's turn, he revealed the best Christmas gift he ever received was a Gordie Howe jersey as a child.
"It isn't so cool when you're a kid, what you want. I didn't want anything, I didn't want for nothing, just give me a Gordie Howe jersey and I'd be so happy," Gretzky told Bissonnette.
Gretzky went on to reflect on how simple Christmas wishes were when he and Bissonnette were children.
"We weren't asking for the world. We weren't asking for a new car, we just wanted something that would really entice us and make us feel good about what we believe in and what we love. That's what makes Christmas, right?"
Eventually, Wayne Gretzky said the best gifts are family and health. He said that he feels fortunate to have five healthy kids and grandchildren and they don't want anything but only to have family around.
U.S. president-elect Donald Trump proposed Wayne Gretzky to run for Canadian prime minister
U.S. president-elect Donald Trump said that he metWayne Gretzky on Christmas Day and suggested that he seek the country's top political office.
"I just left Wayne Gretzky, 'The Great One' as he is known in ice hockey circles,"Trump posted on his Truth social media platform on Wednesday.
"I said, 'Wayne, why don't you run for prime minister of Canada, soon to be known as the governor of Canada - you would win easily, you wouldn't even have to campaign.'"
Trump claimed that Gretzky showed no interest in running for prime minister. However, Trump said it would be "fun to watch" if a movement started to get Gretzky to seek the office.
Trump also took the opportunity to wish current Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a Merry Christmas while mocking him as "Governor Trudeau”, suggesting the country to become a U.S state.
