"We will forever carry you in our hearts": Stars' Mason Marchment's wife Alexis opens up about her heartbreaking miscarriage experience
Dallas Stars forward Mason Marchment’s wife Alexis recently shared the deeply personal and heartbreaking news of her miscarriage on Instagram. After the joy of discovering they were pregnant shortly after their wedding, Alexis shared how they were devastated to learn that their baby no longer had a heartbeat.
On Tuesday, Alexis posted the news on Instagram. She opened up about the devastating experience of losing their baby.
“Mason and I found out we were pregnant soon after our wedding. A blessing. We were so excited. Last week we found out that baby no longer had a heartbeat. I can't stop thinking about it, about what could've been with you, with our family,” Alexis Marchment wrote.
“At first I found myself blaming my body, wondering why my body failed this little angel. I know that's not the case, but having no answers is the hardest part about this loss. I'm going to take the time I need to let my body heal & reflect on this experience.”
Despite the pain, Alexis said that she is grateful for the time she spent carrying the baby and is hopeful that they will experience the joy of pregnancy again in the future. Her post was meant to remind others going through similar situations that they are not alone. Alexis encouraged people to lean on their loved ones, take time to heal, and surround themselves with positive energy.
“For me, I found it helpful to talk to someone that has been through it before,” Alexis wrote. “Thank you to my support system, but especially my husband. The strongest guy I know: He really has been my voice of reason and rock through it all. I miss carrying you baby, we wish we could've met you. We will forever carry you in our hearts.”
Alexis and Mason Marchemnt got married in Tulum, Mexico
Mason Marchment and Alexis Durham got married earlier this summer in Tulum, Mexico. The couple, who had been together for nearly eight years, tied the knot on July 3, after getting engaged the previous August.
Their beach wedding was organized by Luxury by BTS. The venue was named "Casamilos" after their beloved dog Milo and hosted a series of events, including a rehearsal dinner leading up to the big day.
Alexis wore a white lace gown with floral details and a flowing veil, while Mason sported a stylish beige suit personalized with photos from his NHL career inside his jacket lining.
Their close friends, family and teammates were in attendance, including former teammate Brandon Montour and his family. However, the day after the ceremony, Hurricane Beryl hit the coast and the wedding party had to take refuge in a nearby storm shelter in Quintana Roo to wait out the storm.
