"Worldwide love": Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith reacts to musician Bilton Marten wearing Johnny's No. 13
Since the untimely death of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau in a road accident in late August, the hockey community has come together in solidarity to show support to the Gaudreau family and honor the legacy of the two stars. Canadian-Danish musician Bilton Marten is the recent addition to the long line of people who have paid tribute to the memory of the Gaudreau brothers.
On Saturday, Bilton Marten posted an image of himself wearing a No. 13 Gaudreau jersey-hoodie watching hockey in a bar in Copenhagen on his Instagram story.
Johnny Gaudreau’s wife Meredith noticed the gesture and re-shared the post in her Instagram stories. In the caption, she added:
“Worldwide love,” with a red heart emoji.
Last week, Meredith reacted to a heartfelt tribute by former Blue Jackets star Derek Dorsett’s son, Dylan.
Derek Dorsett’s wife, Ali, shared a picture on Instagram showing Dylan wearing a Golden Bears jersey during a lacrosse game with the No. 13, accompanied by the caption:
“#13 for Johnny,” and a yellow heart emoji.
Meredith reposted the story, expressing her love and appreciation for the youngster, writing:
“Love you Dylan! 13 looks good on you,” followed by two yellow heart emojis.
Sean Monahan continues to Johnny Gaudreau's legacy
Johnny Gaudreau's close friend Sean and CBJ forward Sean Monahan has kept his friend’s memory alive in a touching way. Since Johnny’s tragic death in August, Monahan has been dedicating every hockey stick he uses by engraving Johnny’s initials ‘JG’ as a tribute to his late friend.
Meredith Gaudreau has shared her appreciation for Monahan’s gesture on Instagram. She called Monahan Johnny’s “role model and best friend” and shared how much it means to see him honor Johnny this way.
“Love you Muncy. John's role model and best friend. His brother, they were absolute butt buddies,” she wrote on her Instagram story.
Monahan has been a huge support to the Gaudreau family during this difficult time. When the Blue Jackets honored Johnny Gaudreau's legacy during their home opener earlier this season, Monahan walked along Meredith and her children on the ice as they watched Johnny's No. 13 being raised to the rafters. He dedicated his first goal in a CBJ jersey to the memory of his late friend.
Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew died in a biking accident on Aug. 29 in New Jersey, when they were hit by a suspected drunk driver, who has since been in legal custody.
