"Would do anything to go back two months": Johnny Gaudreau's sister Katie writes emotional message in memory of late brothers
Late NHL stars Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau’s sister Katie posted an emotional tribute on Instagram this week. She reminisced the memory of her brothers who tragically passed away in late August.
On Tuesday, Katie Gaudreau shared a black-and-white photo from Johnny’s wedding, which included the Gaudreau siblings - Kristen, Matthew, Johnny and herself. In her caption, Katie wrote:
“I'd do anything to go back two months. Just for one more family hug. The best family. Love you boys more than anything. Keep taking care of us.”
Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau tragically lost their lives in a road accident on August 29 when a truck allegedly driven by an intoxicated driver struck them while they were cycling in Salem County. The brothers had been home for their sister Katie’s wedding. The driver has since been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide.
Earlier this month, Katie also posted a throwback TikTok video in memory of her late brothers. In the caption she wrote:
“Pov your brothers and sister were your best friends. 🤍🪽🪽🤍”
The video covered beautiful moments from their lives, including family gatherings, road trips, and even scenes from Johnny’s wedding afterparty.
Katie Gaudreau pens heartfelt message for Johnny Gaudreau’s children
In another IG story, Katie reposted a tribute from her sister-in-law, Johnny Gaudreau’s wife Meredith, who thanked the Columbus Blue Jackets for leaving Johnny’s #13 jersey in his locker in memory of their beloved star. Meredith’s post showed Johnny’s two children, Noa and little Johnny, sitting by the locker.
Reposting the post on her story, Katie added her own message:
“Can't wait to tell these two and Baby G all the amazing stories about their daddy. How amazing of a hockey player he was but more importantly how amazing of a brother he was. Always taking the best care of me. So proud to be his annoying little sister.”
“I hope Noa, Johnny, and Baby G have a bond like Kristen, John, Matty and I did. The best siblings ever,” Katie added.
The Gaudreau family has supported each other through this difficult period in life. Katie previously posted a heartfelt message for her two-year-old niece Noa, saying that she had “saved” their family.
Kaitlyn expressed how Noa has been a source of strength for them, bringing them hope and reminding them of Johnny. She also added that she feels grateful to be Noa's aunt and to be able to share stories about her father and uncle.
