"You people don't belong here": Evander Kane shares shocking encounter with allegedly racist cyclist
Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane shared a disturbing encounter he had with a cyclist on Wednesday. According to Kane, the incident began when the cyclist allegedly spat on his vehicle while riding past it.
When confronted, the cyclist initially denied the accusation. A friend of Kane's, who happened to be driving nearby, stopped to help mediate the situation. During the interaction, the cyclist allegedly made a racist comment, telling Kane and his friend that "you people don’t belong here."
Kane posted a short clip on his Instagram story narrating the incident in the caption:
"This cyclist was riding his bike past my vehicle and decided to spit on it as he rode by. And then confronted him as he tried to deny the claim. Luckily a friend of mine who was driving in the area, pulled over to intervene in our conversation, this gentleman then proceeded to tell me in my friend and I quote. 'you people don’t belong here'"
That’s what you just said, ‘you people don’t belong here,’ right?” the Oilers forward can be heard saying in the clip.
“That’s not a good statement you made,” Kane’s friend said to the biker.
Evamder Kane expressed his frustration and disappointment over the incident that such behavior is still prevalent in today’s society.
