NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams on the hot seat but won't be removed from the organization

Buffalo Sabres GM Kevyn Adams is under scrutiny as expectations for the team rise this season. With a record of 1-3-0, the Sabres achieved a crucial victory against the Florida Panthers, their first of the season.

Despite the positive developments from the matchup, speculation surrounding Admas' future has grown. According to TFP's David Pagnotta, if the Sabres struggle in the upcoming games, there may be a shift in the GM position.

However, any change would not result in Kevyn Adams being fired. Instead, he's expected to transition to a higher managerial role within the organization.

Pagnotta in his latest TFP column wrote:

"My understanding is the Sabres have someone in mind for the position, but that doesn’t mean Kevyn Adams will be shown the door. If a new GM is brought in, Adams is expected to move up to a higher managerial title. The Sabres got a much-needed win on Saturday, but let’s see how the rest of the month unfolds," Pagnotta added.

The Sabres' recent win offers a glimmer of hope, but the team's performance in the coming weeks will be crucial in determining the future of the managerial structure as they aim to break the active post-season drought (13 years).

Buffalo Sabres HC praises team's performance against Panthers

The Buffalo Sabres put up a dominant performance to beat the Florida Panthers 5-2 at home in KeyBank Center last week.

After the game, coach Lindy Ruff acknowledged a sense of urgency following their 3-1 loss to the LA Kings. He noted that while frustration could have set in, the players maintained their focus and commitment to executing the game plan.

“I sensed the same type of urgency last game (a 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday),” Ruff said (via NHL.com). “I thought our guys were pretty locked in to trying to play the right way, and, for the most part, I thought for 60 minutes we did. We got rewarded."

The Buffalo Sabres will travel to PPG Paints Arena to face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. The puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.
