NHL Rumors: Top insider "confirms" status of John Tortorella's Flyers HC job security after struggling start

The Philadelphia Flyers have had a rough start to the season, which has led to doubts about coach John Tortorella's future.

Their 6-3 loss to the Washington Capitals has only intensified scrutiny, bringing the Flyers' record to a troubling 1-5-1. However, NHL Insider Frank Seravalli reported on "NHLonPrime Coast to Coast" that Tortorella's job security is solid.

Despite the club's struggles, Seravalli confirmed that the organization is standing by John Tortorella for now:

"Reporting live on #NHLonPrime Coast to Coast, insider @frank_seravalli confirms PHI Head Coach John Tortorella's job security is very much intact despite the Flyers' 1-5-1 start to the season."

Tortorella, who has been behind the Flyers' bench for the last two seasons has a 70-76-25 record with the team but is yet to lead them to the playoffs.

John Tortorella slams media when asked about heated exchange with Nick Steeler

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Nick Steeler and Tortorella engaged in a heated argument during Wednesday's matchup against the Caps. At one point, Torts gestured to assistant coach Rockey Thompson to look into the situation.

In the post-game interview, Tortorella addressed the incident and suggested that while the media might blow it out of proportion, it was just two individuals talking about hockey.

"Seeler and I have those once a game. We're just discussing hockey plays. I'm not going to tell you what we were talking about, but that's all part of it. "You guys might make a big deal out of it, but it's just two men who care about what's going on on the ice," said Torts.
"I love that guy, and that stuff is good for us. But yeah, you'll probably make a big deal out of it," he added."

Nick Steeler also addressed his conversation with Tortorella on the bench, emphasizing that while they might have disagreements or arguments, Tortorella consistently supports the team and cares about every player on the bench.

Meanwhile, Tortorella's Philadelphia Flyers are languishing at the bottom of the Metro Division with three points in seven games and are 30th overall in the league standings. They will be up against the Minnesota Wild at home on Friday.
