NHL: New Jersey Devils at Ottawa Senators

NHL Trade Rumors: Insider believes Rangers "would be all in" on potential Brady Tkachuk move

If the Ottawa Senators make Brady Tkachuk available, according to NHL Insider Vincent Mercogliano, Chris Drury and the Rangers are likely to go all-in on the young winger. While the Ottawa Senators have reportedly shown little interest in parting ways with Brady Tkachuk, the Rangers are monitoring the situation.

"Brady Tkachuk is the name many Rangers’ fans are dreaming of, but there doesn’t seem to be much of an appetite on the Senators’ part. If that were to change, the belief is that Drury would be all in," Mercogliano wrote in his column via Lohud.

Given that the team had an impressive regular season, it's no secret that they will be looking to bolster their roster this summer in hopes of a postseason run next year.

The New York Rangers (48-17-13) finished the season with the best record since 1971–72. They made a strong run to the Eastern Conference Finals this season but ultimately fell short against the Florida Panthers.

Offseason ahead for Brady Tkachuk and the Ottawa Senators

This summer will be a pivotal one for the Senators as they look to bolster their roster for next season.

So far, the Senators have already shaken things up, acquiring netminder Linus Ullmark from the Boston Bruins. In addition, the team is also preparing for the draft later this week, where they will make the No. 7 pick, barring any trades between now and then.

While they remained one of the youngest teams in the league last season, the team will have to do more than just draft more young talent. When looking at their lines, it's clear that the team needs veteran leadership beyond Claude Giroux and more depth.

In the case of Brady Tkachuk, there's no doubt regarding why the Senators aren't eager to trade the promising young winger. In addition to leading the team in goals and points, Tkachuk also led the Senators in hits, cementing his status as one of the best young two-way players in the game.

The Ottawa Senators are eager to improve on the 2023–24 season after missing out on the playoffs. While their 2022–23 record was an improvement on the year prior, the team was unable to continue to build momentum this season.

Despite impressive play from Brady Tkachuk, and Drake Batherson and promising development from Shane Pinto, the team finished the year with a 37-41-4 record.
