When Carey Price and his wife Angela Price made a $50,000 donation to a charity

Carey Price, the star goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens, and his wife Angela have not only achieved success in their professional and personal lives but have also become known for their philanthropic efforts.

Throughout the years, the couple has been actively involved in a variety of charitable initiatives. They have focused on causes that range from improving the lives of indigenous children to animal welfare and cancer research.

In 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Carey and Angela made a generous $50,000 donation from their foundation to the Dedicated Breakfast Club of Canada's emergency fund to help feed children across the country.

"We are lucky to have everything we do, when so many people lack access to healthy food. We feel compelled to do our part so that the most vulnerable children and communities in the country, including Indigenous communities, aren't victims of food insecurity during this crisis," said Angela Price.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought many challenges to communities across Canada, including increased food insecurity for children and families. The Breakfast Club of Canada typically supports 250,000 students with a healthy breakfast every school morning, but the total number of children and youth across the country affected by food insecurity is greater than one million.

Angela and Carey Price: Honoring Indigenous heritage and helping the community

Both Carey and Angela are of Indigenous descent. Carey's mother is a member of the Ulkatcho First Nation and has Nam'gis First Nation ancestry.

One of the ways that Angela and Carey Price honor their Indigenous heritage is by participating in cultural events and ceremonies. For example, in 2017, Carey Price was part of a group of NHL players who participated in a smudging ceremony before a game in Edmonton, Alberta.

Smudging is a traditional Indigenous practice of burning herbs, such as sage or sweetgrass, to cleanse oneself and the surrounding area of negative energy. Carey Price also wears a beaded necklace made by his aunt, which features traditional Indigenous designs and colors.

Angela and Carey Price have also supported other Indigenous organizations, such as the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society, which works to improve the lives of Indigenous children and families in Canada. Angela and Carey Price have also supported the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, which works to build relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada.

Angela and Carey Price supported frontline healthcare workers with meal donations

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Carey and Angela Price continued their commitment to supporting their community by providing meal donations to frontline workers. The couple partnered with local restaurants in Montreal to provide meals to healthcare workers who were working tirelessly to care for patients during the pandemic.

In April 2020, the couple donated 50 meals from a local restaurant to the emergency department at the Montreal General Hospital. The couple also donated 125 meals from another local restaurant to the staff at the Jewish General Hospital. The meals were delivered to the hospitals by the couple themselves, who wanted to personally thank the healthcare workers for their dedication and hard work.

The Prices' meal donation initiative quickly gained attention and support from other organizations and individuals. The Montreal Canadiens Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team that Carey plays for, donated $50,000 to support the initiative. The couple also received donations from individuals and organizations that wanted to contribute to the cause.

In total, Carey and Angela Price donated over 1,000 meals to healthcare workers in Montreal during the pandemic. Their generosity and dedication to supporting their community and those on the frontline serve as an inspiration to others to give back and support those in need.
