"I went to bathroom and I was like OMG I'm getting engaged": When Tara Davis-Woodhall recounted surprise marriage proposal from Hunter Woodhall

In October 2021, American athlete Tara Davis-Woodhall recounted the surprise marriage proposal from husband and paralympic athlete Hunter Woodhall. The long-jump athlete also revealed an embarrassing aspect that occurred at the proposal moment. The couple have been together since 2017 and have been supporting each other at the Olympic Games.

Tara and Hunter have been one of the fan-favorite athletic couples. They began dating in 2017 after meeting at a track meet. In August 2021, they participated in the Tokyo Olympics for the first time as a couple.

That year, the 25-year-old paralympic athlete bagged the bronze medal in the Men's 400 m T62 whereas Tara came sixth in the women’s long jump event. After the end of the Olympics, the couple embarked on a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in September. It was during this trip that the couple got engaged.

Tara Davis-Woodhall remembered the heartwarming proposal she received from Hunter. She told on TheEllenShow that she had an embarrassing moment before the proposal. The athlete shared:

“We went to lunch on our very last day and we got dressed up super cute on the beach and then we went back to the Airbnb we were staying at. He told me he had one more surprise and I was like you what this is embarrassing but I had to go to the bathroom right before.”

Tara realized what would happen next as she spotted a 'teepee hut'. She said:

"And as I was walking to the bathroom, I actually saw like the teepee hut set up and I just knew. Once I went to the bathroom I calmed myself down. I was like, this is happening. This is really happening. I am getting engaged OMG. And then, we walked out of the beach and he asked me to marry him and then ofcourse, I said yes. So."

The couple got married in October 2022 at D'Vine Grace Vineyard in McKinney, Texas.

Hunter Woodhall supports Tara Davis-Woodhall ahead of her last championship for the 2024 season

Tara Davis-Woodhall had an impressive run at the Paris Olympics. The athlete bagged her first-ever gold medal in the long jump after achieving a striking distance of 7.10m. She left behind Germany’s Malaika Mihambo at 6.98m and fellow athlete Jasmine Moore at 6.96m.

After celebrating the Olympic glory, the 25-year-old athlete has decided to conclude her 2024 season with her participation at the Rome Diamond Olympics.

She announced it in an Instagram post that she captioned:

"Last one best one.. tomorrow is the last competition of my 2024 season. Every meet has been such a blessing," she wrote. "This year has been all about no expectations, going into each meet with joy and excitement."

She received support from her dear husband Hunter Woodhall. He commented:

"You’re going to smash it mama. This one’s for you, go enjoy your moment!"

Tara Davis-Woodhall will be seen at the Rome Diamond League on August 30 at the Olympic Stadium in Italy.
