"In a couple of years, they'll call me Jonathan Owens' wife" - When Simone Biles made a bold prediction about her husband's future in NFL

Simone Biles once predicted that her husband Jonathan Owens would achieve such remarkable success in the NFL that one day he would be so well-known that people wouldn't refer to him as "Simone Biles' husband." Instead, she would be known as "Jonathan Owens' wife.

While Owens has established himself as a great safety in the NFL over the past couple of years, he faced challenges securing a spot during his early career. The 29-year-old went undrafted in 2018 but later signed as a free agent with the Arizona Cardinals.

However, his struggles didn't end there as he spent the majority of the season recovering from an injury and was later waived by the team in 2019. He signed with the Houston Texans later that year but kept getting picked and dropped from the active roster before signing with the Green Bay Packers in 2023, where he gradually became an integral part of the defensive line.

Owens appeared on The Pivot Podcast in the same year and was playfully told by former NFL player Channing Crowder that he could never be as good a safety as Ryan Clark, both of whom are the hosts of the show. However, Biles, who was present in the background, argued that he could become extremely good.

"You know what he might because the other day I said in a couple of years nobody is gonna call him Simone Biles' husband, they'll call me Jonathan Owens' wife," she said. [14:48]

Clark, who had also gone undrafted at the start of his career, also showed some faith in Owens, saying:

"I think safety is one of those positions if you play it long enough you can get the experience and then your talent comes through and you start to get confident."

In 2024, Owens signed a two-year contract worth $4.5 million with the Chicago Bears.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens first connected through the online dating app Raya in 2020. After only a few days of chatting, Biles decided to drive to Owens' house to meet him in person. She was immediately drawn to his confidence.

Speaking with the Vanity Fair in 2024, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist said:

"If I’m going to be honest, obviously he’s very fine. [But] besides his looks, he was so sweet and kind, and I think what I liked about him was his confidence. He truly believes he’s the best at everything."

Owens, on the other hand, was initially unaware of Biles' fame or the demanding nature of gymnastics. Over time, he experienced both firsthand. Despite this shared understanding, the couple still playfully argues whether football or gymnastics is the more challenging sport.
