Sha'carri Richardson entered the 2024 Paris Olympics with high expectations and met them with stunning performances.
At her debut Olympic Games, Richardson took part in the women's 100m with the world watching her every step. Although she barely put a foot wrong, she had to settle for silver in the end as St. Lucia's Julien Alfred took home the gold.
In the 4x100m relay, the American teamed up with Gabby Thomas, Melissa Jefferson, and Twanisha Terry and emerged victorious. She anchored the team well and switched gears with ease with the baton in her hand to soar past the finish line.
#3 Sha'carri Richardson's dazzling nails
While Sha'carri Richardson is known for her athletic prowess, she also makes the news for her eye-catching nail art. They are a big part of her game-day attire.
With her long, red, blue, and white nails featuring intricate art and designs echoing the American flag, she displayed her patriotism and pride about representing her country on the international stage.
The Paris Olympics isn't the first time Richardson's nails have made the news. When she was featured as Vogue's cover star, her nails, which were inspired by the iconic Florence Griffith-Joyner caught just about everyone's eyes.
#2 Personalized shoes from Nike
If the nails showed Sha'carri Richardson's love for extravaganza, her customized Nike spikes reflected her confidence.
Three years back, she had to go through the heartbreak of missing the Tokyo Olympics after testing positive for THC, a primarly compound found in marijuana, which she had used to deal with the death of her mother.
When she finally took to the track in Paris, Richardson sported electric green spikes. On her left shoe, it said ‘I’m Not Back’, with ‘I’m Better’ engraved on the right shoe.
#1 Sha'carri Richardson stares down opposition en route to Paris Olympics gold
Losing the 100m gold must have upset Richardson and many expected her to put her head down and try to clinch gold in the women's 4x100m relay. While she did help her team to the top step of the podium, she did it in her usual flamboyant fashion.
As the anchor, she got the baton from Gabby Thomas, and the team's medal hopes rested on her shoulders. She ran past her opponents and when she was clear of everyone, she glanced over at the sprinters from Great Britain and Germany, who claimed the silver and bronze, respectively.
The look, coupled with the gold medal, has since become viral on social media, with many calling it the 'Sha'Carri Stare'.
