"Absurd commentary"- Gabby Thomas spills beans on her fun lip sync video on Donald Trump's comment amid presidential election

Gabby Thomas recently made headlines for a lip-sync video on TikTok. The video was a parody of former United States President Donald Trump commenting, "They're eating the Dogs," during his campaign for the US presidential election.

In a recent interview with The Huffington Post, the Olympic champion opened up on why she made the video:

“Obviously it was absurd commentary. It’s just fun to kinda poke fun.”

The lip sync went viral, becoming one of Thomas' most viewed videos on TikTok.

However, the 27-year-old was initially hesitant to post this video. When asked why she went ahead with it, she replied:

“I was a little hesitant to post that video but I figured it was funny enough.”

Thomas refused to discuss much about her political approach but appealed to everyone to go out and vote during the elections as much as possible:

"It’s not a very friendly environment to be having this type of discourse right now."

Thomas recently took part in the Athlos NYC. The Olympic champion was initially ahead in the 200m event until her teammate and Olympic bronze medalist Brittany Brown edged her out by 0.03 seconds in the final 50m. Brown came first with a timing of 22.18 seconds, while Thomas came second with a timing of 22.21 seconds.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Gabby Thomas spoke about her future plans, including participating at the Olympics for one last time at the Los Angeles Olympics. She said the 2028 Olympics would most probably be her last.

When asked if she aimed to break the longstanding world record of 21.34 seconds in the women's 200m event, set by Florence Griffith-Joyner decades ago, Thomas replied:

"I think chasing records in our sport is one of the mistakes that you can truly make.”

Thomas won a bronze medal in the women's 200m and a silver medal in the women's 4x100m relay event at the Tokyo Olympics.

At the Paris Olympics, the Texan surprised everyone with her performance. Against all expectations, she edged out Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, who had won her country's first Olympic medal by winning the 100m race, to win the Olympic gold medal for the USA in the women's 200m event, the first for any female American sprinter in more than a decade.

Thomas further contributed significantly to the victories of the women's 4x100m relay and the women's 4x400m relay teams representing the USA at the Paris Olympics.
