Amid joining Bo Bassett at Iowa Wrestling, former Oklahoma State Wrestler Jordan Williams faces major charges
Former wrestler for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Jordan Williams, faces major charges with assault, as per reports. The wrestler was all set to join the Iowa Hawkeyes next season, alongside former junior world champion Bo Bassett.
According to the court affidavit filed against him, Williams has been charged with two misdemeanors due to an incident that allegedly occurred at Reunion Brewery in Iowa City on June 14. The former wrestler for the Oklahoma State Cowboys has reportedly been charged with assault and public intoxication.
According to the affidavit, Williams was involved in an altercation with a female and was asked to leave by the security. He refused to do so and was accused of shoving a bouncer. Williams also refused to have a breath test. The Johnson County Courthouse has set an initial trial date for September 10.
As per reports, this isn't the first time that Williams has been charged with assault. When Jordan Williams used to represent the Oklahoma State Cowboys last year, he was reportedly involved in two off-mat incidents in a year on similar charges. The team administration had to dismiss him subsequently over the 'violation of rules.' Williams played for a while with the Little Rock Trojans before being selected by the Iowa Hawkeyes for the 2026 season.

Jordan Williams opened up about his arrest and his dismissal from the Oklahoma State Cowboys and how the OSU team actually 'saved his life.' In his conversation with the O'Colly magazine, the wrestler mentioned,
"I’m really grateful for what happened. I’m thankful for coach Taylor [David Taylor], for him not sweeping the whole situation under the rug. That was honestly the best thing that could have happened, looking back on it. I honestly feel like that whole coaching staff saved my life by doing that."
When Williams was dismissed from the team, Taylor had mentioned in a short but firm statement,
"Jordan Williams is no longer part of the Cowboy Wrestling program due to a rules violation. We wish him well as he moves forward.”
Jordan Williams had represented the Oklahoma State Cowboys as a freshman during the 2022-23 season. He finished the season with an 8-7 record, and before his dismissal last year, Williams wrestled his way to a second spot in the 149 lbs. category at the Big 12 Championships.
