Simone Biles opens up about her injury struggles over the years
Simone Biles faced an injury scare while competing in the qualification rounds at the Paris Olympics. After her performance in the balance beam event, she was seen limping and was then attended to by medical staff.
She returned to the podium with her knee taped, causing concern among supporters. Her coach, Cecile Landi, revealed that the gymnast was facing a little discomfort because of a minor calf issue that she picked up while doing floor warm-ups a few weeks ago.
Biles recently opened up about her injuries in an interview with the Daily Mail, where she said that she was fortunate not to have sustained any major injuries.
"I was thinking about this, I've been quite fortunate with injuries but there's been some stuff," Biles said. "There's been a calf I have partially torn two or three times, I broke a rib in 2016, and oh yeah, it turned out my toe was shattered in five pieces after the last Olympics without me knowing."
Simone Biles is now heading to the finals of all the gymnastics events at the Paris Olympics, including the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise, alongside her teammates Jade Carey, Suni Lee, and Jordan Chiles.
