"Happy to be here" - Femke Bol exudes excitement for Silesia Diamond League following her Paris Olympics and Lausanne League victories
In the wake of her Paris Olympics and Lausanne Diamond League, Femke Bol is all set to compete at the 2024 Silesia Diamond League. The Diamond League edition is set to be held at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow, Poland, on Sunday, August 25.
Bol will compete in her pet event, the women's 400m hurdles. She bagged a bronze medal in the event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, clocking a time of 52.15 seconds. She finished behind Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who registered a world record with 50.37 seconds, and Anna Cockrell, who listed 51.87 seconds.
Within a month of the Paris Games, she returned to the track at the Lausanne Diamond League and dominated the 400m hurdles lineup with 52.25 seconds to set a meeting record. The Dutch athlete defeated the Jamaican trio of Andrenette Knight, Rushell Clayton, and Janieve Russell, who clocked 53.32, 54.48, and 54.93 seconds, respectively.
With two consecutive wins, the 24-year-old athlete enthusiastically competed at the Silesia Diamond League. She shared a picture from the pre-race press conference on social media and wrote:
"Happy to be here 🤩 Looking forward to tomorrow’s race 💎."
Bol will vie against the 'Jamaican quartet' of Knight, Clayton, Russell, and Shiann Salmon and the American duo of Anna Cockrell and Dalilah Muhammad to continue her victory streak.

Femke Bol displayed her incredible athletic skills during the mixed 4x400m relay at the Paris Olympics.
The team was running in fourth place when the Dutch star ran the anchor leg, putting up a tough fight for the USA squad. After the second curve, Bol accelerated toward the finish line, leaving the British and the American squads behind in the final few steps of the race.
She effortlessly ran the fastest anchor leg of the lineup by posting 48.00 seconds. Following the victory, she took pride in the national team for achieving the prestigious victory.
"I’m so so so so so proud of this team," she wrote. "Not just the one on the track but also everyone who was on this journey with us. The mixed relay has been quite the rollercoaster these past few years, but we always kept showing up and kept fighting. This time, it brought us gold, teamwork makes the dream work 🧡"
"Thank you for the support, we are Olympic champions," she added.
Femke Bol also led the team to a silver medal in the women's 4x400m relay race.
