Donald Trump Jr takes a dig at Imane Khelif after his father wins the Presidential elections
Donald Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. recently took a dig at Algerian boxer Imane Khelif after his father won the US Presidential elections. The 78-year-old had previously been critical of Khelif, who won gold at the Paris Olympics amid a lot of people calling her transgender and a "man".
Trump won the recently-concluded elections over Kamala Harris and will start his second term as US President in January 2025. His son took a dig at Khelif, as he shared a post on his Instagram account, which mentioned:
"I haven't seen a man beat a woman this bad since the Olympics"
Trump Jr. added his own caption,
"Other than Doug Imhoff"
The post went viral on Instagram, with 400000 likes and counting. Former NCAA swimmer turned social activist Riley Gaines shared it on her X handle, as she posted,
"But he is not wrong though"
Trump Jr. and Gaines aren't the only ones who have expressed their thoughts over the controversy. Many celebrities, from author JK Rowling to President elect Donald J Trump have talked about Imane Khelif's gender identity, once the 'leaked' medical report surfaced online.
Imane Khelif was disqualified over her gender identity by the then IBA from the Women's World Boxing Championships 2023. However, the Algerian boxer was allowed to participate at the Paris Olympics, where she won the gold medal in women's welterweight category.
The controversy around Imane Khelif's 'leaked' medical report
A couple of days ago, a website reduxx.info accessed a French-Algerian medical report, which was published in June 2023. This report claimed to have revealed the truth about the gender identity of Imane Khelif, the Algerian boxer whose participation at the Paris Olympics has been shrouded in controversy.
Khelif's participation was criticized by many, from someone like author JK Rowling, to celebrities like tennis legend Martina Navratilova, to entrepreneur Elon Musk, social activist Riley Gaines etc. However, the Algerian boxer went on to win the Olympic gold medal, and later sued Rowling and Musk for cyber bullying.
But the 'leaked' French-Algerian medical report reignited the controversy around Imane Khelif's gender identity. According to the report accessed by reduxx.info, Khelif had no uterus, but possessed XY chromosomes and internal testicles. The Algerian boxer reportedly suffers from a medical condition of 5 alpha reductase deficiency, which is a sexual development disorder found mostly in biological males.
These claims reignited the controversy around the gender identity of Khelif. JK Rowling claimed that she was ready to go to jail for her comments on Khelif, while Martina Navratilova felt 'vindicated' by the report, lashing out at her critics. She posted on her X handle,
"And here we are- is Imane still suing JK Rowling? Good luck with that lawsuit. Imane might have been raised as a woman but Imane is a biological male and should not have been allowed to box at the Olympics"
Imane Khelif has refused to comment on this issue for now. The Algerian last took part in an interview, where she talked about her plans of pursuing her career as a professional boxer.
