"I was very disappointed after Olympics"-Dina Asher-Smith opens up on journey from failing to qualify in 100m final in Paris to winning Lausanne DL

Dina Asher-Smith recently expressed her dissatisfaction with her Olympic campaign which concluded without any individual medals. Following the Olympic dissatisfaction, Asher-Smith competed in the 100m at the Lausanne Diamond League.

At the 2024 Games, the British sprinter competed in the 100m dash but failed to earn a spot in the final round. She clocked a decent time of 11.10 seconds, settling in fifth place in the semifinal, missing the ultimate round.

However, within a month of the 2024 Games, the 28-year-old bounced back on the track during the Lausanne Diamond League, held on August 22, 2024, at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Switzerland. She dominated the 100m lineup with a striking time of 10.88 seconds.

Asher-Smith achieved this feat after defeating Tamari Davis and Mujinga Kambundji, who posted 10.97 and 11.06 seconds, respectively. In an interview with Citius Mag, following her recent victory, she reflected on her journey from failing to qualify in the final in Paris to winning at the Lausanne Diamond League. She said:

"I was very disappointed after the Olympics. Clearly, I'm in very good shape. Faster than I ran in the Olympics."
"I think it's been kind of pretty easy I just took some time for myself to really think and then just attack the season because I know I'm in great shape I'm injury-free, thank God, and track is fun, you know I wanted to come out here have fun. I'm just enjoying running," she added.

After the 100m setback at the 2024 Paris Games, Dina Asher-Smith fell short of clinching a podium finish in the 200m.

She clocked a stunning time of 22.22 seconds, but it wasn't enough to place her in the medal contention. She settled in fourth place behind Brittany Brown, who clocked 22.20 seconds. Following the race, the sprinter stated that even though she performed well, she did not compete in the 200m in the right emotional state.

"I ran angry," she said. "It was one of the easiest 22.2s I’ve ever run in my life and that is testament to the shape my coach and I have worked really hard to get me in. My body is absolutely fine. I’m just angry from Saturday. I am not feeling any better emotionally. I am very upset," (she said via Daily Mail).

Although Dina Asher-Smith didn't measure up in the individual events, she secured her third consecutive 4x100m relay Olympic medal in Paris.
