"I don’t need spotlight or attention"- Lindsey Vonn makes feelings clear amid criticism as she aims for first World Cup appearance in nearly 6 years

Lindsey Vonn spoke about her return to the slopes and reflected on her journey as she geared up to make her first World Cup appearance in nearly six years. The American Alpine skier expressed that her return is a journey of rebuilding herself as well as doing something that brings her joy.

Vonn's response came soon after the former Swiss skier Pirmin Zurbriggen spoke about her comeback in an interview and claimed that there were high chances that she would suffer from an injury that would keep her away from the sport forever.

Amid all the anticipation among fans to witness her skiing on the slopes once again in a professional setting nearly six years later, fans were intrigued by the reason for her comeback.

The 40-year-old skier took to social media to express her thoughts regarding her decision to come out of retirement. Lindsey Vonn revealed that she had taken a lot of time to introspect and learn about herself in the past six years and figured out that there was nothing that brought her as much joy as skiing at 80 mph.

Moreover, undergoing a partial knee replacement surgery helped her to become more active and relive her dream.

"Over the past 6 years since I retired, I moved on, I continued to build my foundation and help underserved girls, to grow my business and to enjoy all that life has to offer away from ski racing. I took the time to connect with myself and reflect on my life, who I am and what I want to be. I am not just a skier. I am a strong woman who loves to ski," she wrote.
"I am so stronger today than I ever was before. I believe in myself. No matter my age or my history. No matter what people may say, I am doing this for me. I don’t need to prove anything to anyone. I don’t need the spotlight or attention. I simply want to do something that brings me joy and to share that joy with my family, friends, team and all of you.❤️," she added.
