"I'm just blown away by the art these designers create" - Mikaela Shiffrin reflects on her experience at New York Fashion Week

Mikaela Shiffrin, the winningest alpine skier of all time, has reflected on the New York Fashion Week which was held on 9th September, 2024. Designers at the New York Fashion Week showcased the Spring-Summer collection 2025 where Shiffrin was wearing a bright dress with multi-coloured flowers imprinted upon it.

Shiffrin, apart from frequenting other sporting events, got invited for the New York Fashion Week at the Historic West Edge at The Highline.

On Instagram, Shiffrin posted nine pictures of herself and the people she met. She wrote a long caption, applauding the designers for accommodating her at the event. Shiffrin wrote:

"In absolute awe after the @naeemkhannyc show…wow, just simply…WOW. I have never seen anything like that, and I am just so blown away by the beautiful art these designers create. Stunning.
"So far, so great for my first #NYFW experience…and thank you, thank you, thank you to Naeem’s entire team for accommodating me yesterday (especially Hailey), and making magic happen in finding me a look that was both pop art amazing and actually fit."

Mikaela Shiffrin talked of being inspired by Iga Swiatek

Mikaela Shiffrin previously spoke to CNN Sports about the importance of athletes from other sports connecting. She emphasized that all athletes can relate to one another, emphasizing the challenges of evolving as an athlete.

The alpine skier said she was inspired by Iga Swiatek's victory at the French Open. She said (via CNN Sports):

"Any time an athlete from another sport recognizes an athlete from a different sport, I think that's really cool because it just brings more connection into the world of sports and it's not one sport against each other. We're all athletes and we get how hard it is to get to the top in our own sport and for every other athlete out there."

She added:

"I watched her at the French Open and have been kind of keeping tabs ever since. And of course, I went straight to her Instagram page and I was stalking all of her workouts. I'm like, well, maybe I should do that."

Reflecting on Swiatek's hard work, the 29-year-old added:

"It's just how fulfilled she's making herself and doing the sport and working as hard as she does. And just that's the most important thing. I hope she's able to kind of hold on to that."

Mikaela Shiffrin will next compete in the Alpine Ski World Cup, which begins on October 26 in Solden, Austria.
