"I wouldn’t want to do it any other way than with my wife Simone Biles" - Jonathan Owens reflects on life post-marriage with Olympic gymnast
Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have been happily married for over a year now after three years of dating since 2020. Reflecting on the relationship, Owens, who signed for the Chicago Bears recently, expressed satisfaction with the life he's having with Biles.
While Biles concluded a historic campaign at the Paris Olympics, Owens started his maiden season with the Bears. Despite their busy schedules, the couple have regularly shown up at each other's competitions, and Owens believes it's key to their relationship.
“When it comes from traveling to different events or coming to my football games, it makes [us] want to go out there and harder or you want to improve just because you know that your family is there supporting you," Owens told The Post.
"That’s just one thing that we always make sure to do with each other, because you do understand what each other goes through, and you know how hard it is when you’re a professional athlete."
The 29-year-old footballer also expressed happiness with the way his life with Simone Biles is going.
“It’s been amazing … I wouldn’t want to do it any other way than with my wife, because we both understand each other and support each other fully,” Owens added.
While Owens received an exemption from the Bears’ training camp to support Biles at the Paris Olympics 2024, the Olympic gymnast was also there to support the 29-year-old in his first game with the Bears.
The couple met in 2020 through an online dating app "Raya." They went official a couple of months later after sharing a picture of them hugging on Instagram. Owens was later spotted supporting Biles during a gymnastics meet in 2021.
Biles took a break from gymnastics following the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, while the NFL safety continued his term at the Houston Texans. He signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2023 and in the same year, Owens tied the knot with Biles in April 2023. The gymnast also made a comeback a few months after the marriage.
Simone Biles says Jonathan Owens was excited to watch her compete at the Paris Olympics
In a rarity, Jonathan Owens was granted an exemption from Chicago Bears training camp to let him support his wife compete at the Paris Olympics 2024. He attended the all-around finals, where Simone Biles won the gold medal.
Speaking with TODAY in an interview, Biles claimed watching her compete during the Olympics meant the world to Owens.
"He was loving to pin trade. I didn't think he would, but I did warn him that pin trading is really huge and so he absolutely loved that. And obviously, he loved going to see me compete. He was still keeping score," she said.
"For him, it meant the world to him because he's seen the amount of hours that I put in, so to actually see in person, he was like, 'Wow. This is amazing.' He was just so excited to be there," she added.
Biles won three gold medals at the Paris Olympics 2024, along with a silver medal on the floor. With 11 Olympic medals and 30 World Championships medals, the 27-year-old is arguably the most decorated in gymnastics history.
