"If Noah Lyles would have raced me again, he knows he would have lost" - IShowSpeed claims professional athletes are "scared" to run against him
Popular YouTuber Darren Jason Watkins Jr. aka IShowSpeed has been on cloud nine ever since he contested against Olympic champion Noah Lyles. The 19-year-old internet personality now claims that professional athletes are 'scared to compete against him.
For the unversed, the YouTuber had been challenged by another YouTuber, James Stephen Donaldson, aka MrBeast for a 50m dash with 100m Olympic champion Noah Lyles. The winner would take home a grand prize of $100000.
In a recent stream broadcasted on November 11, the YouTuber claimed that professional athletes were scared of running a race with him after the challenge to Noah Lyles. In his words,
"Now, everybody is scared to race me. I’m not about to say no names, but all these people who are professionals.. whatever they’re professionals at… they are scared to race me. I’m calling everybody and anybody out."
The YouTuber also mentioned in jest that Lyles would think twice before running a race with him again.
"That even goes out to Noah, chat. That’s the reason Noah didn’t even want to race me again. If Noah would have raced me again, he knows he would have lost. He wasn’t tired. He wasn’t tired at all. I promise you, everybody is scared to race me," he added.
IShowSpeed gave tough competition to Noah Lyles throughout the 50m dash. The YouTuber almost won the race until the Olympic champion surged ahead in the final few meters of the race.
IShowSpeed challenges Tyreek Hill for a race
IShowSpeed recently challenged NFL player Tyreek Hill for a one-on-one race. The NFL receiver, who represents the Miami Dolphins, had been critical of Noah Lyles over his comments against the NBA and challenged him to a one-on-one race, which was eventually accepted by the Olympic champion sprinter. The two would compete next year as a part of the 'Super Serious on Sight' series, hosted by Terry Crews.
When IShowSpeed competed against Lyles, Hill mocked the Olympic champion with a post on his X handle, where he wrote,
"And track athletes think he gone beat me 😂😂😂"
As Lyles responded to the jibe, the YouTuber joined the conversation as well, challenging Hill as he wrote,
"lmao he’s scared to race me but he’s trying to race u, tyreek u gotta get through me first😂"
Interestingly, Noah Lyles isn't the only guy IShowSpeed competed against. He was challenged by MMA fighter Jake Paul in September 2024 for a friendly race, with a prize of $25000 for the winner. However, the race is currently on hold, due to Paul's preparations for an upcoming boxing match.
