American swimmer Ryan Murphy and his wife Bridget Murphy recently shared pictures of the latter flaunting her baby bump. The two went viral as the gender reveal couple during the 2024 Paris Olympics, when Bridget Murphy revealed their baby's gender while attending the event at Paris La Défense Arena.

Ryan Murphy had a brilliant run at the Paris Olympics, where he added three more medals to his already impressive Olympic collection from Rio 2016 (3 golds) and the Tokyo 2020 (1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze). This included the gold in the 4x100m mixed medley, silver in the 4x100m medley, and bronze in the individual men’s 100m backstroke event.

The couple recently shared photographs of themselves, with Brittany Murphy showing off her baby bump. The caption read:

"Mom & dad loading,"

In Paris, the American star swimmer collected his first medal in the 100m backstroke by recording a time of 52.39s in the finals. In the finals, he finished third behind Italy’s Thomas Ceccon and China’s Xu Jiayu, who clocked times of 52.00s and 52.32s respectively.

After his impressive bronze medal finish, Ryan Murphy received a special surprise from his wife, Bridget, who was in attendance to witness the event at the Olympic Aquatics Centre. At the venue, Bridget held a placard revealing the gender of their child, which read, “Ryan, it’s a Girl!,” an idea which was suggested by her sister.

She later took to her Instagram account to share this ‘viral’ moment, stating:

“Of all the medals you’ve won in your career, this one is by far the most special. Our biggest dream come true."

Ryan Murphy started dating Bridget Konttinen around September 2016 while they both pursued education at the University of California. Ryan was a crucial-member of the swimming team, while Bridget competed on the Rowing team of the Golden Bears.

Ryan proposed to Bridget in May 2022, with the couple exchanging vows on September 30, 2023, in Lake Tahoe, California. The former world-record holder shared that marrying Bridget was one of the highlights of 2023 via Instagram, stating:

“2023 was an incredible year. I’m proud of the accomplishments achieved in the pool, with the support of @calmenswim coaches and teammates. The highlight of my year was marrying @bk_murphy_ . I love you now and forever.

Notably, both married at the Everline Resort & Spa in a beautiful setting that paid tribute to the bride’s Finnish heritage.
