"Isn't that YOUR duty to fulfill"- Riley Gaines reacts to student voicing her concerns against the MLK High School over the presence of trans athletes
Riley Gaines recently reacted to a high school student voicing her concerns against the MLK High School over the presence of trans athletes. The school has been in the limelight for its action against the students who called out the administration for not addressing their concerns.
Gaines shared a video, where the student revealed what she had to face for just speaking the truth. The student mentioned,
"I wore a shirt that says 'Save Girls' Sports'. It's common sense that XX is not equal to XY. I wore my shirt because I have many female friends who've been forced to compete against the male [athletes] at our school."
Gaines commented on the situation by sharing a quote from the video on X. She wrote:
"'We should be able to trust that our staff & admin won't punish us for thinking differently than them.Isn't that their most basic duty to fulfill? Isn't that YOUR duty to fulfill? To ensure our privacy, safety, and opportunities in & out of the classroom?' Are you listening, @RiversideUSD? "
Riley Gaines had previously called out the MLK High School administration for not addressing the concerns of the students. She also voiced her protest against the threats issued by a trans athlete against the protesting female athletes.

Previously, Riley Gaines also voiced her concerns about the action taken by the MLK High School against the female athletes for protesting against the alleged presence of a trans athlete.
According to the media reports, the students who protested against the trans athlete by wearing 'Save Girls' Sports' T-Shirts were penalized by the school administration. Gaines reacted to the situation by posting on her X handle:
"Crazy that students are being punished for what 99% of people know to be true..... Keep standing tall @jadeynn_lynn and the other MLK HS students!"
That was not all. Gaines also called out the administration for penalizing the students. She wrote in another post on her X handle:
"Heartbreaking.
- MLK HS compared a shirt two girls wore that said “Save Girls Sports” to wearing a swastika
- 150+ students wore the same shirt to school to support the girls
- The school punished the students by issuing dress code violations & barring them from attending class"
Riley Gaines has been campaigning for the exclusion of trans athletes from women's sports since 2022. She first came into limelight for her protest against the bias shown by the NCAA towards the transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.
