U.S. gymnast champion Simone Biles' idea of "eating" a gold medal after winning the gymnastics event at the 2024 Paris Olympics is on a roll on the internet. Suni Lee and Jordan Chiles talked about their TikTok video on the Todayshow. In the post, all four US gymnasts were seen doing the eating celebration.
Biles, Chiles, Lee, Hezley Rivera, and Jade Carey led the US to the gold medal at the Olympic finals. Their celebratory videos on Tiktok went viral on social media.
The duo (Lee and Chiles) was seen in several TikTok videos with different celebratory moves. Chiles and Lee then attended the Todayshow, where the interviewer asked them about the "munching of a gold medal" video. This is what they said:
"Oh My God, that was Simone Biles' idea!" - The duo said
Chiles explained Biles' point of view in detail, saying,
"That TikTok went (viral) like, people will do it with random stuff. And so, from her point of view, she thought, you know, what we did it with our gold medals? And I was like Oh My Gosh!" Chiles said.
The interviewer amusingly asked her about the taste of the gold medal. Chiles replied,
"Actually golden! That was - Mwah!"
Simone Biles: Third woman in history to win multiple all-around golds
After clinching her gold medal in the team finals at the 2024 Summer Games, Biles defeated Rebeca Andrade of Brazil to win gold in the individual all-around event. Biles is now the American gymnast with the most Olympic gold medals: 9.
She is the third athlete after Larisa Latynina of the Soviet Union and Vera Caslavska of Czechoslovakia to win multiple gold medals in the all-around events. Biles has a chance to win three more gold medals this year: balance beam, floor exercise, and vault.
Biles withdrew from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to prioritize her mental and physical well-being after suffering from twisties. The 27-year-old has come a long way now, creating history once again at the 2024 edition.
She worked on a new move in the years building up to the Paris Olympics. This helped her win the all-around finals on Thursday, August 1, The new move was the Yurchenko double pike vault, which has a difficulty value of 6.4. This makes it the most challenging vault to perform in the women's competition.
