Jordan Burroughs pens an emotional message as he shares pictures with David Taylor while gearing up for World Wrestling Championships

Jordan Burroughs is all set to make the USA proud at the upcoming World Wrestling Championships beginning on October 28. The American grappler recently warmed up with fellow grappler and former Olympic champion, David Taylor.

Sharing a couple of photographs of the warmup session with David Taylor on Instagram on October 25, Burroughs posted an emotional note, writing :

"Hey cowboy, how about we lace em up for one last ride?"

The upcoming World Wrestling Championships will be Taylor's final tournament as an amateur wrestler before he officially joins Oklahoma State University as their new wrestling coach. Speaking about his retirement and career plans, Taylor said (via NBC Sports):

"This is it" said the wrestler on his career after the World Championships. “Yeah, this is it."
“Between now and the world championships, it starts to hit you, the significance of what you’re balancing. It’s a lot,” he added.

Taylor started his career around the same time as Burroughs, a six-time gold medalist at the Wrestling World Championships. However, it was at the Tokyo Olympics did the 33-year-old American grappler made his debut. He won the gold medal in the men's 86kg. freestyle wrestling, defeating former Olympic champion Hassan Yazdani of Iran, who had moved up to the 86kg category like Taylor did.

Jordan Burroughs won the Olympic gold medal on debut but didn't manage to repeat his 2012 London Olympics heroics afterward, failing to make it to the 2024 Paris Olympics after going down to three-time NCAA champion, Jason Nolf.
