Tara Davis-Woodhall announced her final appearance for the 2024 season at the Rome Diamond League. The American athlete put forward great performances throughout the 2024 season and emerged victorious in the French capital to win her first Olympic medal.
She began the Olympic year in the Indoor season where she clinched formidable victories in the U.S. Indoor Championships and the World Athletics Indoor Championships. The 25-year-old then went on to win the U.S. Olympic track and field trials to qualify for her second consecutive Olympic Games.
Tara Davis-Woodhall asserted great dominance at the Paris Olympics and won her first Olympic medal with a performance of 7.10m. Malaika Mihambo of Germany clinched the silver medal with a performance of 6.98m.
After the Paris Olympics, Davis-Woodhall skipped two Diamond League events and announced that she would be competing at the Rome Diamond League, which would be her final appearance for the 2024 season.
She took to Instagram to express her joy after an incredible season and thanked her fans for their unwavering support.

This year has been all about no expectations, going into each meet with joy and excitement. this meet is for myself. everything i’ve worked on this season I will try to execute and be the best version of myself. thank you to everyone who supported me this year. Tara Davis-Woodhall on winning her first Olympic gold medal
Tara Davis-Woodhall penned a heartfelt message after winning her first Olympic gold medal in the French Capital. After completely living the moment, she took to Instagram to express her thoughts eight days after the victory.
"It’s been 8 days since i’ve come off my win. 8 days since Ive accomplished something i’ve dreamed for so long about. 8 days since i’ve processed what this truly means. I’ve changed the sport. I brought eyes to long jump. I’ve manifested everything i’ve dreamed of and it’s all coming true. Thank you to my team for allowing me to keep my dreams alive," read an excerpt from her statement.
She thanked her coach and team for their efforts to get her into the best shape for the Olympics. Additionally, she thanked her team of doctors for their support which helped her to be fit in the event-packed Olympic season.
