Letsile Tebogo shares three-word reaction to Kishane Thompson’s dominant display in season opener

Letsile Tebogo has reacted to Kishane Thompson’s impressive 2025 season-opener performance. Competing in the 60m event at the Central Hurdles, Relays, and Field Events Meet, Thompson recorded a personal best time of 6.48s despite facing a headwind of -2.1 m/s.

After Thompson’s impressive season opener in Kingston, Letsile Tebogo expressed his admiration for the Jamaican track star’s performance by lauding him on his Instagram story with the caption, saying:

The 23-year-old is set to compete in the 60m at the Astana Indoor Meet on January 25. The event is also part of the first World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting of 2025.

In 2024, Thompson had a remarkable campaign that saw him win the Olympic silver medal after losing a photo-finish battle to American sprinter Noah Lyles. Later, he featured in the men’s 4x100m relay heats. However, the team finished fourth in heat two, thus failing to earn qualification in the finals.

Besides becoming an Olympic medalist on his maiden appearance, Kishane Thompson was also the world leader in the 100m distance, with a 9.77s run at the Jamaican National Championships.

Kishane Thompson shared his thoughts on his first Olympic experience in Paris during an interview with Relovo, the Spanish sports media outlet. He shared:

“It's like a trip. I have lived the Olympic experience, everything that comes with and what has been lived motivates me more to try to get the gold in my next big championship. As a kid, I always saw the Games and wanted to be a part of this moment. It's been a great experience.”

He further went on to lift the lid on whether he was only focusing on the 100m or aiming to give the 200m distance a shot. Thompson expressed his liking for the event but mentioned that injuries had prevented him from performing in the same, adding:

“Also in the 200, although "I haven't run that fast to get there because of the injuries. But I'll be that far away soon. I like it."

If Kishane Thompson starts competing in the 200m then some of the rivals who are expected to pose a threat to him are Letsile Tebogo and Noah Lyles.
