Mondo Duplantis' fiance Desiré Inglander pens a heartfelt note on the Olympic champion's 25th birthday
Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis recently celebrated his 25th birthday with great fervor. The Olympic champion's fiance Desire Inglander took to Instagram to write a heartfelt message on this occasion.
Inglander posted a video of a playful moment with Duplantis on Instagram with the caption,
"Happy birthday to the person who makes me laugh the most❣️25! I love you @mondo_duplantis"
However, that wasn't all. The Swedish model also posted a couple of intimate moments on her Instagram stories, as she wished Duplantis a Happy Birthday.
Duplantis acknowledged Inglander's kind wishes by re-sharing some of her stories on his Instagram account. The couple got engaged in October after a surprise proposal from the 25-year-old Swedish-American pole vaulter. Inglander had posted on Instagram about the occasion with the caption,
"Little did I know🤍 @voguescandinavia"
Mondo Duplantis is enjoying his off-season, having ended his 2024 athletic season on a high note. The 25-year-old Swedish-American pole vaulter broke his world record when he won a second consecutive gold medal in the men's pole vault at the Paris Olympics.
Duplantis ended the season with a fourth consecutive Diamond League trophy when he won the finals held at Brussels with a jump of 6.11m, a new meet record for the venue.
Mondo Duplantis' surprise proposal
Mondo Duplantis and Desire Inglander have been engaged since October 2024. The 25-year-old surprised his long-time girlfriend as he proposed to her during a photoshoot for the Vogue Scandinavia.
Duplantis once talked about the time in an interview with People magazine when he first met Inglander in 2020, and how the meeting didn't go as planned.
"So at the party, I was just trying to talk to Desiré, like ‘Hey, what’s up, I’m Mondo...’ but she didn’t want anything to do with it or me. She just wanted to dance," he said.
However, the 25-year-old pole vaulter didn't give up and continued to pursue her, until she agreed to date him. Interestingly, Duplantis had been preparing for the big moment for months. However, he said he almost froze before making the move.
“I can safely say it’s the most nervous I’ve been in my life. I had a few lines that I thought I was going to say, but I lost my words. I completely froze,” Duplantis said.
The Swedish-American pole vaulter further talked to Vogue Scandinavia about the importance of Inglander in his life. In his words,
"Desiré brings me such a great balance in life. It’s so nice to be able to come home and escape into a completely different world, absorb ourselves in each other and whatever we’re doing."
Mondo Duplantis got engaged to Desire Inglander on October 15 in front of their family members. The couple posted some photographs on their respective Instagram accounts to mark the joyous occasion.
