Noah Lyles on being happy to be 'the fastest man in the world
In an interview with 'LetsRunDotCom' on YouTube, Noah Lyles opened up about his status as the 'fastest man in the world'. He also spoke about why he did not care much about the loss in the 200m finals at the Paris Olympics, where the American managed to clinch a bronze medal.
"Nobody cares about the 200m. I learned that quickly after breaking the American record and losing to Mondo Duplantis for Athlete of the Year. I was like they don't care about the 200m. I mean it's fun to watch but at the end of the day nobody and the common people, non-track and field athletes they don't care about the 200," he mentioned. [12:50 0nwards]
Lyles also talked about how he would be more comfortable with maintaining the title of the 'fastest man in the world' than anything else. In his words,
"It's the 100 that's why when Bolt was winding down, he stuck to the 100 cuz the 200m wasn't going to get him extra motto, it was all about the 100m, everybody wants to know the fastest man in the world."
Noah Lyles is currently looking ahead to making a strong impact in 2025, including the highly anticipated Tokyo World Championships.
