Olivia Dunne reacts to Suni Lee winning gold medal with Team USA at Paris Olympics
Two-time Olympic gymnast Suni Lee and her team won a gold medal in the women's gymnastics team final at the 2024 Summer Games. After clinching three medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Lee was headstrong to win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and with her team's best efforts, she made it happen.
After winning the gold medal, Lee posted pictures of the team's celebration on Instagram, where NCAA gymnast Dunne congratulated her with a comment that said:
"Winner winner chicken dinner" - Dunne commented
Many famous athletes like Lindsey Vonn, Margzetta Frazier, Coco Gauff, and many more, have showered greetings to Lee through comments.
"Olympic champions forever" - Lee's caption
In 2023, Lee's body suffered from two kidney diseases, but she managed to continue her gymnastics. In Paris, she played a pivotal role in routines on bars, balance beams, and floor exercises, which helped her clinch a gold medal.
"That dream has died": Olivia Dunne talks about her Olympic dream
Dunne's professional career began in 2014. She attended National Team Camps at the USA Olympic Training Center in Texas and was selected to represent Team USA in Italy at the Jesolo Trophy competition.
After the competition, she accepted a full athletic scholarship to LSU for 2020. She dreamt, just like any other kid, of representing her country at the Olympics, but her dream was shattered following an injury.
When she was 15–16, she suffered an ankle injury during practice, which changed the dynamics of her gymnastic career. Unable to give her optimal performance in gymnastics, she missed the Tokyo Olympics.
"That dream has died. I got hurt when I think I was about 15-16 years old, my bone had died in my ankle and it fractured, so I kind of realized this is not for me anymore," Dunne said about her Olympics dream on BFF podcast.
Olivia Dunne is more active on social media, taking her followers at the Paris Olympics and going viral daily. The LSU gymnast is the most widely followed NCAA athlete on social media, with over eight million followers on TikTok.
