Riley Gaines takes dig at Rosa DeLauro as politician calls for reform with use of female crash dummies to fight gender inequality in vehicle safety

NCAA swimmer turned social activist Riley Gaines recently reacted to the views of Democrat politician Rosa De Lauro on vehicle safety. The 81-year-old senator recently expressed her views on tackling the issue of gender inequality in vehicle safety.

According to the reports, DeLauro maintained that female crash dummies should be increased in order to bring gender equity.

“It is critical to fund the use of female crash test dummies for road equity. This will fight the gender inequity in vehicle safety,” she said.

Gaines expressed her reaction by posting the following on X:

"She literally looks like a Snapchat filter"

Previously, Gaines had called out the panelists on the ABC talk show 'The View' for their approach over Republican senator Nancy Mace's protests against the trans congresswoman Sarah McBride. For the unversed, Mace had proposed for the trans congresswomen to be forbidden from using the restroom at the Capitol Hill.

When the panelists on 'The View' attempted to show Mace in a bad light, Gaines reacted to the situation by posting on her X handle,

"I'm so tired of the "it's just one person!" argument. Yes, it's ONE narcissistic man but he's imposing himself on ALL women."

Riley Gaines has been fighting to exclude trans athletes from the women's sports. She also campaigned against the forceful imposition of the Title IX changes, which in her opinion, threatened to suppress any kind of criticism against the trans athletes.

Recently, the Senate had summoned the representatives of NCAA for a judicial enquiry. They also raised questions about their policy on the inclusion of trans athletes in women's sports.

However, the NCAA head Charlie Baker dismissed the concerns around the safety of female athletes. According to him, if the athletes felt uncomfortable with the presence of the trans athletes, they could opt for alternative arrangements.

Baker's arguments did not go down well with most of the senators, who called him out for not addressing the issue properly. Senator Josh Hawley posted on his X account,

"Listen to NCAA President Charlie Baker hem and haw and blame everyone from courts to “the locals” for HIS policy allowing men in women’s sports. It’s indefensible - and he knows it"

Gaines expressed her thoughts on the situation, as she shared Hawley's post, writing on her X handle,

"At the hands of NCAA leadership, my teammates & I had to strip down naked in front of a 6'4", fully intact, naked man. Read that again. Where's the accountability @NCAA? Stop blaming others for your failures. Thanks to @HawleyMO for holding their feet to the fire."

Riley Gaines had campaigned against the bias shown towards transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA Championships. Her efforts were partially successful when World Aquatics noted in June 2022 that trans athletes like Thomas would be forbidden from taking part in elite women's events, including the Olympics.
