"Scared to race Noah Lyles across a real racing distance"- Fans react as Tyreek Hill challenges athlete to 50-yard race after banter on social media
Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill have been going back and forth after the Dolphin's Linebacker claimed to defeat the athlete in a race. Lyles spoke about Tyreek Hill in the "Night Cap" with Shannon Sharpe and Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson.
The Paris Olympics gold medalist claimed that Tyreek Hill was using the opportunity and hype of the Olympics to chase clout.
"Tyreek is just chasing clout. Anytime somebody fast comes up, he says he wants to race them. If he really wanted to race people, he would’ve shown up like D.K. Metcalf. The man raced in the 60m this year in the Masters division. The man dodges smoke. I don’t have time for that…" [53:30]
After the podcast, Hill took to X to challenge Lyles to a 50-yard race.
"Sign the contract and lock in that 50 yard race …," he tweeted.
His tweet led NFL and track fans to share their opinion about the challenge on social media. Some fans felt that Hill chose an easy way by challenging him to the 50-yard race instead of the 100m race, whereas some fans felt that the Dolphin's wide receiver stood no chance in front of the 100m Olympic gold medalist.
"Bro scared to race Lyles across a real racing distance. He knows he getting cooked either way," wrote a fan.
"Nah, you said 100 meters, don’t backtrack now. You’re just trying to get an edge cause you know Noah’s top speed kicks in after that. 50 yards is 45 meters—don’t be scared, lmao,"wrote another fan.
Here are some more fan reactions:
"Guy says he wants to compete in the ‘28 Olympics but only wants to run 50 yards against a proven Olympic athlete? 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️," wrote another fan.
" There’s a reason you only want to run 50 yards. Don’t be a coward, run the 100m!," another fan chimed in.
" 50 meters is good for both parties .. Lyles is a 6.4 guy in the 60 so should be interesting," tweeted another fan.
What led to the banter between Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill?
Tyreek Hill reacted to Noah Lyles' comment about American league winners calling themselves world champions. The American athlete's comment from 2023 resurfaced on social media after he won the gold medal in the men's 100m at the Paris Olympics.
The Dolphins wide receiver snubbed his comments and claimed to beat the athlete in a race with a formidable distance.
"For him to do that and say that we're not world champions of like our sport, like come on, bro, just speak on what you know about, you know what I'm saying? And that's track. I would beat Noah Lyles. No, I wouldn't beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles,” he said (at 0:19 via "NBA Central")
Furthermore, this statement brought about a lot of discussions among fans on social media who expressed the desire to witness the battle between the two athletes.
