Serena Williams' husband believes both Sha'Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas are equally important for any brand's marketing and influence
Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian has stated that one cannot pick between Sha'Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas for marketing campaigns.
A user on X asked whether Richardson or Thomas would be the best pick if a company wanted to hire one of the athletes to be the face of their brand and help market their products.
"Let's Kill This Whole Debate. If You Had $20,000 As A Business Owner To Put Behind One Of These Women (Sha'Carri Richardson & Gabby Thomas) To Market Your Brand/ Sell Product/ Influence Demand, etc. Which One Are You Choosing?" read the post.
In reply, Reddit co-founder Ohanian stated that there was just one correct answer to that question:
"The only correct answer is BOTH."
Ohanian has long been a believer in investing in sports, especially women's sports. He co-founded and invested in Angel City FC and Los Angeles Golf Club. He is also organizing the Athlos NYC league this year, which will see some of the sport's best athletes compete at the Icahn Stadium on September 26.
Gabby Thomas manifested her Olympic success
At the 2020 Tokyo Games, Gabby Thomas was one of the favorites to take the top spot on the podium. However, she settled for a bronze medal in the 200m and silver in the 4x100m relay.
The elusive gold kept her hungry going into the 2024 Paris Olympics. And in the 200m event at Stade de France, Thomas ran a superb race to take home the title. She was quick from the start, took the lead halfway through and her formidable top-end speed took her over the line without much of a challenge from anyone else.
The 27-year-old also won gold medals in the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay.
Recalling the win, Thomas, in a recent interview to CBS News, stated that she manifested that gold medal by telling herself in the days leading up to the event that she was already the Olympic champion.
"I am building my self-talk. I'm building my confidence in that moment. I am telling myself that I am already the Olympic champion. I wrote down over and over every morning, while I was in Paris, that I will be the Olympic champion - in my notes app - over and over and I envisioned the race all day, every day, imagining myself winning and crossing the line in front," she said.
Gabby Thomas is set to take part in Alexis Ohanian's Athlos NYC league this year.
