Suni Lee breaks silence on heartbreaking fall at the Paris Olympics
Suni Lee spoke about her heartbreaking fall during the balance beam finals at the Paris Olympics. The American gymnast revealed how the fall, which had a profound impact on her medal in the event, humbled her.
The 21-year-old competed in her second consecutive Olympic games in Paris and was considered to be the top contender for the medal in several events alongside fellow American teammate, Simone Biles. She competed in all four apparatus in the qualification rounds at the quadrennial games and qualified to compete in the finals of the all-around, uneven bars, and the balance beam.
After winning the gold medal in the team event, tragedy struck Lee when she competed in the balance beam finals. She successfully carried out the initial maneuvers but had a heartbreaking fall from the beam in the later part of her performance upon losing her balance. Right after the fall, Suni Lee gathered back her courage and got back onto the beam to complete her performance.
However, the fall had a profound impact due to which she scored 13.100 and placed sixth in the final standing on the balance beam. Two months after the conclusion of the Paris Olympics, Suni Lee broke her silence on the fall and took to Snapchat to reflect on the moment.
"This was so humbling," she wrote.

Suni Lee spoke about dealing with a lot of stress before competing in the balance beam finals at the Paris Olympics. The American gymnast shed light on being affected by the environment in the Arena in the French capital.
Lee revealed that she did not appreciate the crowd shushing her teammates who were cheering for her, leading to a complete silence which added to the turmoil.
"It was too quiet. I could literally hear myself breathing.You could feel the tension in the room. I mean, the crowd shushing us for cheering. We did not like that, just because it's just so silent in there. I love hearing my teammates cheer for me," she said.
Furthermore, she expressed her sadness about the result despite giving her best. Suni Lee concluded her Paris Olympics campaign with three medals which included a gold medal in the team event and two bronze medals in the uneven bars and the all-around, taking her overall career Olympic medal count to six.
