Suni Lee delighted as she gets closer to becoming a 'New Yorker' following Paris Olympics 2024
Following the USA women's gymnastics team's gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics, Suni Lee shared on Instagram that she would soon be starting a new chapter in New York City. She had planned this move before the start of the 2024 Summer Games.
Earlier, Lee told Elle during the Paris Olympics that her dream was to relocate to New York City after winning gold. Having returned from Paris with three Olympic medals, the gymnast is reportedly leaving her Minnesota hometown for the Big Apple.
Lee made the announcement on Sunday evening via a post on Instagram Threads.
"life is crazy can u believe i’m bout to be a new yorker !!!🥹" Lee wrote.
Lee has offered no further details about her relocation plans, leaving fans speculating. Born and trained in St. Paul, Minnesota, Lee's decision to leave her hometown for New York City is a major life shift.
Interestingly, the 21-year-old posted a photo on her Instagram story of a New York City billboard featuring the U.S. women's gymnastics team upon her return from the Paris Olympics

Suni Lee earned one gold and two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics 2024. Lee was a key contributor to the USA women's gymnastics team's triumphant gold medal win in the team all-around. Her scores of 14.566 on uneven bars, 14.600 on balance beam, and 13.533 on floor exercise were instrumental in the USA's overall score of 171.296.
While unable to defend her Tokyo Olympics 2020 all-around title, the American gymnast secured the bronze medal with a total score of 56.465. Lee's disappointing start with a 13.933 in the vault did not deter her. The American gymnast's prowess on the uneven bars and balance beam ultimately secured her an Olympic medal. Lee won the bronze with scores of 14.866 on uneven bars, 14.000 on balance beam, and 13.666 on floor exercise.
Rebeca Andrade of Brazil claimed the silver medal, scoring 57.932, while Simone Biles secured gold with an impressive score of 59.131. The overall performance of the U.S. gymnastics team was exceptional.
Lee's second bronze medal came on the uneven bars. Her signature uneven bars routine earned an impressive 14.800 from the judges, placing her third behind seventeen-year-old Kaylia Nemour of Algeria and Qiu Qiyuan of China.
