"That always scares me"- Simone Biles opens up on being stormed by fans
Simone Biles spoke about being mobbed by fans, claiming that it was something that scared her. She narrated about this in her documentary "Simone Biles: Rising".
The gymnast had a rough outing at the Tokyo Olympics, as she had to withdraw from several events due to a condition called "twisties". Biles made her third appearance at the sporting event in Paris, and had a campaign to remember, winning four medals.
Biles shared her journey over years in her Netflix Original documentary 'Simone Biles Rising.' The 27-year-old spoke about the constant attention people gave her and expressed her thoughts on how they have associated her name with gold medals.
"Apparently, they only give out golds and the Olympics. I don't think anybody knows of any other color, " Biles said. ( 7:11 onwards)
Biles also said that while being stormed by fans for pictures was scary to her, it's something she needs to get used to.
"I have to get used to people coming up to me again and taking pictures, So I'm actually kinda nervous. For some reason, that always scares me," the gymnast said.
Furthermore, Biles spoke about having a positive attitude and focusing on her mental health while competing, stating:
"I just think I have to keep a good headspace, and I have to just do nothing more, nothing less, once we get out there."
Simone Biles sent a message to her fans before departing for Paris Olympics
NBC Olympics and Paralympics hosted an event for the United States Olympic Team and Simone Biles shared a message with her fans before leaving for the Paris Olympics in July 2024.;
"What's your message to your fans right before you go to Paris?" Biles was asked.
She responded by thanking her fans, claiming that she would not be where she was if not for them. The 27-year-old also called her fanbase "sweet and supportive".
"Thank you so much. I wouldn't be here without all of you. I'm very gracious that I have such a sweet and supportive fan base. And I say fan base, but I really mean family, because it really does take a village," Biles said.
"It's just exciting, and it warms my heart, and I see most of it. But it just keeps me, it keeps me running," she added. (0:32)
At the Paris Olympics, Biles helped the United States win the team gold while triumphing in the all-around and vault events. She also won a silver in the floor exercise event.
