"The World will know my name"-Julien Alfred opens up on manifesting her gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics
Julien Alfred spoke about manifesting her victory at the Paris Olympics. The athlete from Saint Lucia revealed how she wrote down her goals and aspirations before the race which just added to her self-belief before she stepped into the Stade de France for the ultimate showdown.
Alfred competed in two events in the Paris Olympics. After winning the gold medal in the World Athletics Indoor Championships in the 60m, she was considered among the top athletes for the 100m crown at the quadrennial games. Julien Alfred went head to head against reigning World Champion Sha'Carri Richardson in the women's 100m finals and emerged victorious to win her country's first gold medal in Olympic history.
Moreover, she won the silver medal in the women's 200m after finishing behind Gabby Thomas with a performance of 22.08s. Alfred spoke about manifesting her victories at the global event in an interview with BBC Woman's Hour. The athletes from Saint Lucia spoke in her journal entries before the race and said:
"One of the things I wrote down is 'Julien Alfred Olympic Champion'. Just manifesting knowing how hard I have worked for this moment. Also, I wrote that 'the world will know my name, I am unstoppable, it's my race, my coach has prepared me for it, have fun. There were so many different things that I wrote down but just realizing that I had a great chance of winning and also believing in myself before going to the finals that I was already the Olympic champion," she said.
Julien Alfred on receiving a grand welcome in Saint Lucia after victorious Paris Olympics campaign
Julien Alfred received a grand welcome as she returned to her country after the conclusion of her 2024 season. The Olympic champion was honored with a day named after her for winning the country's first Olympic gold medal. She attended several events that spanned over four days which included a motorcade rally as well as school visits to inspire the children.
She took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt note as she celebrated her victory with Saint Lucians.
"HAPPY JULIEN ALFRED DAY!🇱🇨 The past four days here on the island has been nothing short of amazing! I have laughed, cried, danced, and celebrated with my fellow Saint Lucians and today we get to end it all on a very special day at the Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds. To All, both here and abroad, thank you for celebrating me. I will forever be grateful. Saint Lucia will always be in my heart!" she wrote.
Furthermore, she thanked her family and fans for their support throughout her Olympic campaign.
