WATCH: Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen left in awkward silence when asked about qualities they admire in each other
The love-hate relationship between Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen isn't something new to the track and field world. A recent episode of the strained relationship between the two was recently on display just a day before the 14th Diamond League meet in Zurich.
In the pre-event press conference, both Kerr and Ingebrigtsen appeared during which the host of the conference asked both the long-distance runners to state the quality they like about each other. Following this question, the conference room was filled with silence as both the athletes were left in an awkward position.
Replying to this question, Kerr remarked that the immaculate dressing sense of the Norwegian is the best quality that he likes about his arch-rival. Ingebrigtsen, on the other hand, chose the Brit's impressive knack for performing in important situations as the best attribute he likes about Kerr.
Kerr said during the interview (via Wanda Diamond League):
"His dress sense I would say is his best quality that would be number one."
Ingebristen stated:
"I would probably say his performance or making it 100 percent when it matters, I think that's important for us and Josh has been doing that since Tokyo. So being able to make your best race when it really matters is important."
Here is the video from the Zurich Diamond League pre-event conference:
Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen are set to go head-to-head at the Zurich Diamond League meeting in 2024
Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen are all set to go head-to-head against each other in the Men's 1500m event of the Zurich Diamond League at Letzigrund Stadium. This will also be the first time that Kerr and Ingebrigtsen will be competing in a track and field event since the Paris Olympics 1500m finals concluded last month.
The Paris event saw Josh Kerr beat Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the race as the Norwegian failed to clinch a medal in the event whereas Kerr finished with a silver medal.
Besides the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Brit also got the better of the Norwegian at the Prefontaine Classic (Eugene Diamond League meet) held in May. Kerr won the event after registering a run time of 3:45.34 while Ingebrigtsen finished second in 3:45.60.
It can be said that Kerr has had the upper hand over Ingebrigtsen so far in the 2024 season and the latter would be looking to change this on Thursday.
