Mondo Duplantis' performances in the 2024 season
Mondo Duplantis was expected to fly high in the 2024 season. He has broken the world record in men's pole vault a record seven times since 2020. The 25-year-old was expected to do the same at the Paris Olympics, and he did not disappoint.
The Swedish-American pole vaulter began in style by winning the gold medal at the World Indoor Athletics Championships held in Glasgow. He jumped to a height of 6.05m.
Soon after, at the Xiamen leg of the Diamond League 2024, Duplantis improved his world record, as he jumped up to the height of 6.24m in his very first attempt. He went on to win the gold medal at the European Championships, though he couldn't repeat the heroics of the Xiamen Diamond League.
At the Paris Olympics, Duplantis won his second consecutive gold medal, breaking the world record for the ninth time with a jump of 6.25m. However, he wasn't done yet. In the runup to the Diamond League finals, the pole vaulter breached the 6.26m mark to win the Silesia leg of the Diamond League.
At the Diamond League finals held in Brussels, Mondo Duplantis couldn't break the world record. However, his performance of 6.11m was more than enough to give him a fourth consecutive Diamond League trophy since 2021.
