Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone recently opened up on her relationship with her husband, Andre Levrone. The four time Olympic gold medalist recently mentioned about what inspired her the most about her husband, as well as the memorable moments she spent with him.
In a recent interview, as uploaded by track and field blogger Track Spice on X, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone revealed how she became involved with former NFL player Andre Levrone, whom she married in 2022. When asked about her most romantic date with him, she said:
"A perfect date with Andre, would be probably the second date ever we had once at the beach. We brought food, and then we realized we didn't have forks, and we ate salmon with our hands! It was such a bonding moment that now I'm like 'Lets do it again!' [chuckles]."
Andre Levrone is a former NFL player, who played as a wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens. He subsequently played for Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars before retiring in 2020 after only three seasons. It was around the same time that he met Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who was an emerging sensation preparing for the Tokyo Olympics. Levrone proposed to her in 2021, and the two wed each other in 2022.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone on her husband deliberately missing her races
Not many people are aware that Andre Levrone hardly attends any of the races that Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone takes part in. He did not even attend the Paris Olympics to cheer her up. There is a good reason behind it, which the Olympic champion has revealed in her memoirs.
In her autobiography, 'Far Beyond Gold: Running from Fear to Faith', Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone mentioned why her husband Andre Levrone didn't attend her races. To quote an excerpt from her interview to a women's magazine for the July/August cover story,
"We've definitely developed our routine and he understands when I'm locked in. It's nothing personal, just trying to stay super focused and so yeah, he takes of certain things for me on race day, which I really appreciate so that I can focus on what I got to do."
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has already won two Olympic medals so far throughout her career. She broke the world record to win the Olympic gold medal at women's 400m hurdles in Tokyo Olympics.
With a new timing of 50.37 seconds, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone broke her own world record set only months ago to win her second successive Olympic gold medal at the Paris Olympics. The American sprinter further contributed in USA's victory in the women's 4x400m relay event in the French capital.
