Noah Lyles snubbed Tyreek Hill in an interview after the Paris Olympics. Tyreek Hill weighed in on Lyles' controversy with NBA Players and claimed to beat the athlete in a race that turned social media abuzz with fans discussing the matter and putting their opinions forward.
Hill spoke about Lyles in an interview with Kay Adams where he discussed the athlete claiming that athletes playing American leagues should not consider themselves as World Champions.
“Noah Lyles can't say nothing after what just happened to him. You know what I'm saying? Then he want to come out and pretend like he's sick. I feel like that's like horseradish. So, for him to do that and say that we're not world champions of like our sport, like come on, bro, just speak on what you know about, you know what I'm saying? And that's track. I would beat Noah Lyles. No, I wouldn't beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles,” he said.
This statement brought about a lot of discussions among fans and a week later Lyles snubbed Tyreek Hill in an interview and claimed to have forgotten his name.
"Ummm, what's that's guy, what's the cheetah guy from football? Well, I can't remember his name. Mark! What's the football player who thinks he's fast name? Tyreek Hill," he said.
What led to the controversy between Noah Lyles and players of American leagues?
Noah Lyles spoke about the NBA in an interview at the 2023 World Championships where he took a dig at the players for calling themselves 'World Championships". His statements resurfaced and became a topic of discussion among fans during the Paris Olympics.
"You know the thing that hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have 'world champion' on their head," he said. "World champion of what? The United States? Don't get me wrong, I love the U.S. at times, but that ain't the world...We are the world. We are the world. We have almost every country out here fighting, thriving, putting on their flag to show they are represented. There ain’t no flags in the NBA," he said.
The statement brought about a lot of criticism among fans and several NBA players like Kevin Durant took to social media to express their thoughts about the same.
“Somebody help this brother,” wrote Kevin Durant
Despite all the criticism and backlash, Lyles remained stern in his statements as he aimed to make track and field a major sport globally.
