Ackeem Blake is a Jamaican sprinter who recently emerged victorious in the men's 100m event at the 2024 Diamond League final in Brussels. This was also the 22-year-old's first Diamond League victory of the 2024 track and field season.
Blake produced an impressive performance and registered a run-time of 9.93 seconds to beat the Diamond League 100m defending champion Christian Coleman, who eventually finished in the second position in 10.00 seconds. Paris Olympics bronze medalist Fred Kerley finished in third place after registering a run-time of 10.01 seconds.
Following his victory, Blake opened up about his happiness about winning his first-ever Diamond League final. He said (via Wanda Diamond League):
"For me it was a surprise to win here today. It was a very competitive field and it was also my first DL final. This really means a lot to me. It was rather cold to sprint tonight, but still I ran a time pretty close to my personal best."

Besides winning the 100m event in the 2024 Diamond League final, Blake has also shown his prowess at various other global tournaments. His first performance that left a mark on the international track and field circuit was at the 2019 NACAC U18 Championships where he clinched a bronze medal. Since then, the Jamaican has not looked back.
Three years later at the NACAC Championships, Blake again produced an impressive performance to win the gold medal in the 100m event. Besides, he also won a gold medal in the 4x100m relay event as he was a part of the Jamaican relay pool.
In the subsequent year, Blake clinched a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay event at the World Championships. However, Blake's most impressive individual performance came in 2024 during the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Budapest where he clinched the bronze medal in the 60m event after registering a run-time of 6.46 seconds.
The 22-year-old also qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and ran the men's 100m event. However, he couldn't advance past the semifinal stage after finishing fifth in his race.
