"Tyreek Hill was talking bla bla bla...then I ran 4.22 in my sweats" - When Usain Bolt recalled being challenged by NFL Wide Receiver

Usain Bolt once revealed that Tyreek Hill had challenged him to beat him in a sprint race. While the duo didn't compete, the eight-time Olympic champion shut the Miami Dolphins' Wide Receiver in the following year with a blistering 40-yard run to tie the NFL record.

Hill is one of the fastest players in the NFL and while he hasn't run in the NFL combine, he posted an unofficial time of 4.29s for the 40-yard dash in 2016. The Miami Dolphins WR has become quicker with time and following Bolt's retirement in 2017, he challenged the sprinter to beat him.

Recalling his conversation with Hill during an appearance on Pat McAfee Show, Bolt said:

"Me & Tyreek Hill got into it 1 time Because he's also a Gatorade-sponsored athlete, and we were sitting and talking and he was like yo you could take me?, and he was talking bla bla bla."

The 100m world record holder later ran in the NFL combine and shut the football player with a 4.22s run in 'sweats and sneakers'.

"Then I went to the combine after 1 year & if you go on the net right now.. I ran 4.22 in my sweats. I was like come on Tyreek, you got no chance whatsoever," Usain Bolt added.

Bolt ran the 4.22s during an NFL Experience event at the Super Bowl LIII in 2019 and wasn't wearing any running spikes either.

While the Jamaican's time was unofficial, it matched the then-NFL combine record of John Ross from 2017. It was broken by Xavier Worthy in 2024 when he ran 4.21s, resulting in a large section of fans assuming the youngster was faster than Bolt before American sprinter Noah Lyles interrupted.

Noah Lyles jumped to the defense of the only three-time 100 m Olympic champion in history, Usain Bolt, when people started comparing the Jamaican with Xavier Worthy following the NFL youngster's NFL combine record run.

Reacting to a post by Bleacher Report comparing the two athletes' 40-yard dash times, Lyles set the record straight, reminding everyone that the Jamaican had run in 'sweats' and without warming up before the event.

"Do we have to show the video of him running that time with jeans, no cleats, and no warming up. Just to remind y’all," he wrote.

The reigning 100m Olympic champion was also challenged by Tyreek Hill for a sprint race, and the duo is expected to face in early 2025 in an event Lyles has hinted to be at the level of Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul.
