Is Travis Kelce in Ryan Murphy's Grotesquerie? Everything we know so far

Travis Kelce will be joining Ryan Murphy‘s FX horror series Grotesquerie, which will continue the football player's foray into Hollywood. This is Kelce's first major acting role, with the series set to release soon.

The horror drama from Murphy was announced in February with a cryptic teaser, and it's now set to premiere on September 25, 2024. Alongside Kelce, Grotesquerie also stars Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville, among others in starring roles.

Travis Kelce set to star in Ryan Murphy's Grotesquerie

Travis Kelce has surprised fans by being in the cast of Grotesquerie. On the latest episode of his New Heights podcast, the NFL celebrity talked about his casting news:

“I was kinda blown away and kinda, like, shocked that he was willing to give me a role like this because it is a big role on the show.
"He (Murphy) seemed very confident that I’d be able to do this, and he kinda injected that in me the first conversation that we had. So, hopefully, I don’t bomb this for him."

He continued:

"Ryan Murphy is (an) unbelievable writer, director, producer, all of the above, man. He’s just — there’s nothing he can’t do and everybody’s just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable.
"Even on top of that, just giving me kinda the direction I need and the coaching I need to portray this part that I’m in.”

Talking about working with professional actors, he said:

“I feel like an amateur. ... And, uh, I haven’t gotten fired yet, so we’re doing good. They haven’t told me to f**king kick rocks after the first week, so it’s been awesome.”

Travis Kelce’s brother Jason, who co-hosts the podcast, urged the football star to drop some spoilers, but Travis was adamant about not giving up too much. Travis' casting on Grotesquerie was revealed in May when he confirmed the news in an Instagram post by Nash-Betts.

What do we know about Grotesquerie?

Along with the cast details, Fx has also revealed a plot synopsis for Grotesquerie, which reads as follows:

“A series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon (Nash-Betts) feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone—or something—is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care and her own inner demons."

It continues:

"With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan (Diamond), a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good.
"Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.”

Grotesquerie is a 10-episode series and will drop on FX on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, on the FX channel. The episodes will be available to stream the next day on Hulu.
